  2. Instructions for Installing an Avance Logic Video Card in Conjunction with
  3. Windows 95
  4.  
  5. Case1:  Windows 95 is not installed on the system and an Avance Logic video
  6.     card is Installed on the system motherboard.
  7.         
  8.     1.  Install Windows 95 by following the manufacturer's installation
  9.         procedure.
  10.  
  11.     2.  Double click on the My Computer icon when the installation is
  12.         complete to bring up the My Computer window.
  13.  
  14.     3.  Double click on the Control Panel icon to bring up the Control
  15.         Panel window.
  16.  
  17.     4.  Double click on the Display icon to bring up the Display
  18.         Properties window.
  19.  
  20.     5.  Click on the Settings tab to bring the Settings page of the
  21.         Display Properties window to the front.
  22.  
  23.     6.  Click on the [Change Display Type] button to bring up the Change
  24.         Display Type window.
  25.  
  26.     7.  Click on the [Change .....] button in the Adapter Type section of
  27.         this window to bring up the Selection Device window.
  28.  
  29.     8.  Click on the [Have Disk] button to bring up th Install From Disk
  30.         window. Follow the instructions in this window for inserting the
  31.         diskette containing the driver into the selected diskette driver
  32.         and then click on the [OK] button to bring up another Select
  33.         Device window.

  35.     9.  Insure that "Avance Logic 2101 VGA" is highlighed in the Select
  36.         Device window and then click on the [OK] button. The Copying
  37.         Files information box will come up indicating that files are
  38.         being copied to the hard disk driver. When the copying is
  39.         complete, the Change Display Type window will return.

  41.     10. Click on the [Change.....] button in the Monitor Type selection
  42.         of the Change Display Type window and follow the instructions for
  43.         selecting the appropriate monitor type.

  45.     11. Click on [Close] button in the Change Display Type window to
  46.         bring back the Display Properties window.
  47.  
  48.     12. Select the desired resolution, color, and font size values in the
  49.         Display Properties window and then click on the [Apply] button to
  50.         bring back the System Settings Change window.

  52.     13. Click on the [Yes] button in the System Settings Change window to
  53.         restart the system and activate the new settings.

  55. Case 2: Windows 95 is installed on the system and a video card other than an
  56.     Avance Logic video card is installed on the system motherboard.

  59.     Note: It is recommend that the video mode be set to Standard VGA
  60.           before beginning this installation.

  62.     1.  Power of the system, remove the existing video card, and install
  63.         the Avance Logic video card.
  64.  
  65.     2.  Power on the system. The New Hardware Found window will be
  66.         displayed. In this window, select "Driver from disk provided by
  67.         hardware Manufacturer." and then click on the [OK] button to
  68.         bring up the Install From Disk window.
  69.  
  70.     3.  Follow the instructions in the Install From Disk window for
  71.         inserting the diskette containing the driver into the selected
  72.         diskette drive and then click on the [OK] button to bring up
  73.         Select Device window.
  74.  
  75.     4.  Insure that "Avance Logic 2101 VGA" is highlighted in the Select
  76.         Device window and then click on the [OK] button. The Copying
  77.         Files message box will come up indicating that files are being
  78.         copied to the hard disk drive. When the copying is complete, the
  79.         Change Display Type window will come up.

  81.     5.  Click on the [Change .....] button in the monitor Type selection
  82.         of the Change Display Type window and follow the instruction for
  83.         selecting the appropriate monitor type. This step may be skipped
  84.         if the correct monitor type was selected previously.

  86.     6.  Click on the [Close] button in the Change Display Type window to
  87.         bring up the Display Properties window.

  89.     7.  Select the desired resolution, color, and font size values in
  90.         Display Properties window and then click on the [Apply button to
  91.         bring back the System Settings Change window.

  93.     8.  Click on the [Yes] button in the System Settings Change window to
  94.         restart the system and activate the new settings.

  96. SETCK.EXE is a utility to let you set your monitor refresh rate.  To set the
  97. the refresh rate from win95 you need to switch to MS-DOS prompt full screen.
  98. You can copy SETCK.EXE to any directory you like and run SETCK program.
  99.  Examples:

  101. SETCK 35  => 1024 X 768 i 43Hz ;  640 X 480 60 Hz; 800 X 600 56 Hz
  102. SETCK 37  =>  640 X 480 70 Hz
  103. SETCK 48 =>  1024 X 768 60Hz ; 800 X 600 72 Hz
  104. SETCK 56 =>  1024 X 768 70 Hz

  106. If you want you can put into autoexec.bat so every time you restart your 
  107. machine the refresh rate will automaticly take effect. 
  108. Otherwise you need to set refresh rate everytime your win95 show up.
